Privacy Policy

Last updated: March 20, 2026

1. Introduction

MoodMap ("we", "us", or "our") provides a web application for mood tracking, journaling, and related wellness insights. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, store, and share information when you use MoodMap (the "Service"). By using the Service, you agree to this policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service.

2. Information we collect

  • Account and authentication data. When you create an account or sign in, we process information such as your email address, display name (if you provide one), and authentication tokens. This is handled through our authentication provider (e.g. Supabase Auth).
  • Mood and journal content. Information you choose to log in the app—such as mood selections, energy or stress ratings, tags, journal text, and timestamps—is stored so the Service can show your history, calendar, insights, and related features.
  • Profile and onboarding. Optional details you provide during onboarding (for example, age range or preferences used to tailor copy) may be stored with your profile.
  • Technical and usage data. We may collect device or browser-type information, log data, and approximate usage patterns needed to operate, secure, and improve the Service. If you enable optional analytics (such as Google Analytics), aggregated usage statistics may be collected according to that provider's terms.
  • Push notifications. If you opt in to notifications, we may use a push provider (such as Firebase Cloud Messaging) with a device token so we can deliver reminders. You can disable notifications in your device or browser settings.
  • Contact form. If you contact us via the website, we receive the information you submit (such as your email address and message) so we can respond.

3. How we use your information

We use the information above to provide and maintain the Service, authenticate you, sync your data across sessions, generate insights you see in the app, send optional notifications you request, troubleshoot issues, protect against abuse, comply with law, and improve features and security.

4. Legal bases (EEA / UK users)

Where applicable privacy laws require a legal basis, we rely on: performance of a contract (providing the Service you signed up for), legitimate interests (security, analytics, product improvement, and support), and consent (where we ask for it, for example optional analytics or marketing communications). You may withdraw consent where processing is consent-based, subject to applicable law.

5. How we share information

We do not sell your personal information. We share data only as needed to run the Service, with categories of recipients such as:

  • Infrastructure providers (e.g. hosting, database, authentication) who process data under our instructions.
  • Analytics or email delivery if enabled, subject to their privacy policies.
  • Legal and safety when required by law, court order, or to protect rights, safety, and integrity of users or the Service.

6. Data retention

We keep your information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the Service. You may request deletion of your account or certain data where applicable law allows. Some information may be retained for a limited period for security, backups, or legal obligations.

7. Security

We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your information. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure; we encourage you to use a strong password and protect your account credentials.

8. Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or export your personal data, or to object to or restrict certain processing. To exercise these rights, contact us using the details below. You may also have the right to lodge a complaint with a data protection authority.

9. Children's privacy

The Service is not directed at children under 13 (or the minimum age in your jurisdiction). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe we have collected data from a child, please contact us so we can delete it.

10. International transfers

Your information may be processed in countries other than your own. Where required, we use appropriate safeguards (such as standard contractual clauses) for cross-border transfers.

11. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will post the updated version on this page and update the "Last updated" date. Continued use of the Service after changes means you accept the revised policy, to the extent permitted by law.
